This week there was a single matchup that included two top ten teams. #8 Atlanta Falcons were able to outplay the #1 Denver Broncos in their home stadium and get the better of that Denver defense. This is the first week where all ten teams have remained in the top ten, just moved around a bit. Upcoming this week, we get two top ten matchups. First up we have the surging #5 Atlanta Falcons going to #8 Seattle Seahawks who are coming off a bye week. In the second matchup we have the number one rushing team, #6 Dallas Cowboys visiting the number one rush defense, #7 Green Bay Packers.
Check out the previous weeks Power Rankings here.
1.Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) (ESPN #3) – Up 1
With Ben playing as good as he is, Leveon is really just icing on the cake at this point. Since throwing zero touchdowns against Philly in Week 3, Ben has 9 touchdowns in his last two games. Sammie Coates is really coming on strong and they have Eli Rogers returning soon.
2.New England Patriots (4-1) (ESPN #2) – Up 1
Well Tom is back, there really isn’t much to say else to say. For anyone who thought he would be iffy in his return (me?), he proved the doubters wrong by throwing for 400+ yards and three touchdowns. He also connected with newcomers Chris Hogan and Martellus Bennett 10 times for 181 yards and all three touchdowns. Oh yeah and Gronk had 5 catches for 100+ yards too….
3.Minnesota Vikings (5-0) (ESPN #1) – Up 1
They are just proving everyone wrong. They continue to win games holding the Texans to 13 points this week. The held Houston to less than 200 yards passing and only 59 rushing yards. I’m not saying they’ll stay undefeated all season, but they’ll have a chance to win every game with defensive stats like this. The offensive line may be their downfall, it seems like they lose at least on lineman each week.
4.Denver Broncos (4-1) (ESPN #4) – Down 3
In our only top ten matchup this week, the Broncos fell to the Falcons. Their defense kept them in the game but Paxton Lynch was unable to do what was needed to win this game. They should get back on track this week with the return of Siemian and a game against the San Diego Chargers.
5.Atlanta Falcons (4-1) (ESPN #6) – Up 3
Everyone doubted the Falcons this week but they were able to pull out the victory and knock off the undefeated Broncos. Obviously Matt Ryan’s stats took a dip but he wasn’t expected to pass for 500 yards again. The Falcons did enough to win this game, the run game looked good even with a limited Tevin Coleman this week. Atlanta also started 5-1 last season, finishing the season is where they struggle.
6.Dallas Cowboys (4-1) (ESPN #7) – Up 3
I’m excited to say they just keep winning. How long will it go? Who knows, but I’m ecstatic that my biggest problem right now is that Tony Romo may be a downgrade at QB from Dak Prescott. Dallas’ defense was able to hold AJ Green in check all game and the Bengals didn’t really have a chance to get anything going until the final minutes of the game. Oh yeah and Ezekiel Elliot looks pretty damn good too! Tough test this week going to Green Bay.
7.Green Bay Packers (3-1) (ESPN #9) – Down 2
I expected the Packers to look much better against a struggling New York Giants team. The Giants weren’t really in the game but were never out of it. A late touchdown let Giants get within one possession but they had no right being in that game. Eddie Lacy missed the ending with an ankle injury (something to keep an eye on) and eventually this defense has to give up some rushing yards. They are on a historic pace (2nd lowest amount in Super Bowl era allowed through 4 games).
8.Seattle Seahawks (3-1) (ESPN #5) – Down 2
They had a bye week and gained the lead of the division while not playing, but again I went against my feeling of moving a team down during their bye week. I think Seattle will come back stronger and have a good outing this week versus Falcons, but they won’t be a pushover.
9.Oakland Raiders (4-1) (ESPN #12) – Up 1
The Oakland Raiders are finally winning games they have always found a way to lose. Derek Carr is top ten in both passing yards and touchdowns and has prime targets in Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. Can they continue to win with the terrible defensive play they’ve been getting? As long as they are putting up the points they are each week, it’ll be interesting.
10.Philadelphia Eagles (3-1) (ESPN #11) – Down 3
The Eagles get their first loss of the season but should have beaten a weak Detroit Lions team. Carson Wentz threw his first interception of the season to end the game, but he will be just fine.
Biggest Jump: Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys
Biggest Drop: Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles
Dropped out of Top 10: None
Just Outside of Top 10:

14. Houston Texans (3-2) (ESPN #18)
